Matt Rawls joined Sage Title Group and Midtown Law Group, PLLC in 2022. “Rawls” is a longtime resident of Richmond, but grew up in Suffolk, Virginia. Upon graduating from James Madison University, he attended Pepperdine University School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 2009. Capitalizing on the educational opportunities only available in Los Angeles, Rawls helped found a Richmond-based record label, Spacebomb Records, in 2010. He served as general counsel to the label in its early years, while helping the business get off the ground, and is still a co-owner of the company. He and some colleagues also founded and ran the Fall Line Festival, a music and arts festival that was centered in downtown Richmond. Beyond the world of music, Rawls has a wide variety of experience, both inside and outside the legal profession. He spent extensive time in the court room practicing criminal defense law, and in bankruptcy court representing mortgage servicers. His knowledge of the mortgage industry and the handling of distressed home loans has proved to be valuable to the Sage Title Group Team. Rawls is an enthusiastic and engaging educator – he is a valuable resource to buyers, sellers, and REALTORS®. When not at work, he spends as much time as possible on his 13-foot Boston Whaler with his wife, Anne Taylor and two daughters. He also spends an inordinate amount of time tinkering with the boat and pretending he knows how to do outboard engine maintenance.
